Hi i brought this chip back in july this year kept it at stock at 3ghz and now i have tried evry possible settings to mild overclock this chip as people said it was easy to do it.So i cant even overclock it to 3.6ghz at intels maximum vcore at 1.3680 which i find really shocking do i really have a bad chip here.Im gutted i paid so much money for this chip as i was gonna get the q9650 first but i went for the unlocked multi instead because overclocking it would be easy.My friends qx9650 does 4ghz really easy at very low vcore.I really want to know what i can do or will i have to put up with a bumb chip i have got.

Ok here is my rig.
1.Asus Striker II Extreme nForce 790i Ultra SLi
2.Corsair 4GB DDR3 DHX 1600C7DHX
3.Thermaltake ToughPower 1200W Modular Power Supply
4Asus GeForce GTX 280 1024MB GDDR3 X2 RUNNING SLI
5Silverstone Temjin TJ07B-W
6.Swiftech Apogee GTZ
7. Black Ice GT Xtreme 360
812V Laing DDC-1T Ultra w/XSPC Acrylic Pump Top

Faliure at high vcore to.

I have tried every setting possible really its just asking for way to much vcore where everybody else,s qx9650 does not i cant be the only one with a bad chip.Ive read forums after forums and people get theres at high overclock and way less vcore. So i said to my self it must do 3.ghz 333x11 at intels max vcore for this chip 1.36xx but failure after 15 minutes in prime95.

Tried all the bios available tried all the tweaking possible just wont overclock at low vcore compared to every other qx9650.Im really thinking of RMA this chip back for under performing to what it should do after all it is extreme and is made for overclocking Intel would have not made it a unlocked chip otherwise.Im not worried about temps after all i got a good watercooling on the cpu which i spent a lot of money on but its no good if the dam chip dont overclock at what it should do.

you wont be able to rma for not overclocking, its only guaranteed at stock.

I have had two both needed high vcore.

Thats a bum then isn,t it what high vcore did u feed it .I might have to stick to 3.8ghz at 1.42 vcore seems stable there but 4ghz wants like 1.5vcore which i think is abit dangerous.

Ive tested the ram 100% which is fine and also ran small FTT in prime95 so only cpu is put under load and falires acour within seconds on the 3rd core always.

I know you said you ruled out the ram but what speed are you trying to run the ram at? Also, what timings. Your screenshots so far only show CPU and FSB speed and not the ram, which will be different from the FSB speed unless you're on a 1:1 divider.

As mentioned above, are you on a 1:1 divider? My E6600 wouldn't go past 3Ghz untill I used a 1:1 ratio (should also mention it was an Asus borad, but the 650i chipset). Might be worth trying if you haven't already?
