Thanks mate. It is the most unpleasant thing I have ever been through.

Trying to think of all the good times (there were many) but my head keeps dragging me back to that image of when she looked up at me on the table before she went.

Really not looking forward to that with either of our two, tbh. They should still have a good number of years left in them, but I do often think about that inevitable day where I'm stroking him as he goes. Not nice. :(

Guys just ignore him, he's not worth the energy. Just a shame that such a brilliant community like this one can easily be ruined by one or two idiots. (maybe ruined isn't the word, but, you know.)

Thanks again for all the kind messages.

Just found another pic, put it in the OP.

Thanks guys. Still can't get over the image of her lying on the table dead:(

Going to haunt me for a while that.

I took the 'cowards' option.

I said goodbye to him at the vets in the morning. I was told he had inoperable prostate cancer in the afternoon.

That's the last time I saw him, I couldn't see the point of going back.

I never saw him on the table.

Don't kick yourself, some people just cant do it.

I knew what was coming, you just do when you have been so close to an animal for so long.

This is why I know OP did the right thing.

Jack Russell's are amazing little animals, remember the good times, I am sure there are 1000's

:)

We all lose friends; it's tough, it's hard to handle and inevitable but we can all remember them because of the good times we had, salute to the owners who gave and give their dogs great lives and the dogs who gave and give their owners great lives.

Dog - Man is an incredible bond.

You will struggle to find any friend who will stand by you like a K9.

This is a major reason why I won't have a dog. If they lived 50 years, then maybe. But 15 tops? No. Anyone who is worthy of a dog will be gutted when the dog dies. I miss my family dog and he's been dead for many a year now.
