Jim Unwin,

I doubt many/any of you know this man.

However, I would like to say that this one man had so much influence on my life over the last year that he pretty much filled the gap where my grandad's used to be.

Some of you will know that I pitched to a "Dragons Den" panel with Peter Jones and won £85,000 investment. I am 18. I could only dream of doing this a year ago. I was under confident and held back by peers and teachers from my true potential. Untill I entered this "Pitch" to investors. I went through 8 months of training and workshops at which I met Jim Unwin.

He imediately respected me and thought i had what it takes to take my idea forward. He could relate to it and offered to be my overseer. From that day, I could ring him or email him where and when i wanted and he would help me regardless of his situation. He had no hidden agenda's, bias's or barriers to the fact that he was 73years of age and working within a young business environment.

I pitched because of him and in memory of my grandfather and won. He was so proud, he entered me into the Oxfordshire Business awards.

3 months later, last night...He suddenly died of a heart problem.

I had a memo pop up to remind me to call him...the call he never recieved to update him on my success's and progress.

I don't think i will ever be able to fill that gap of mentor with anyone that was such a character and pivital figure to my life and our projects. I barely scratched the surface of his knowledge, He was a ledgend among local business's and even saved Aston Martin £Millions.

Goodbye Jim, A great businessman, Mentor and friend. RIP

Sounds like a great man. Someone who has made a great impact on your life. May he Rest In Peice. Don't ever forget him. Memories live on.

He could have been a millionaire. But a friend stole his idea... shame really as he was so clever and could have done a lot with it.

However he said the thing that mattered to him was his family and he did everything for them even if it meant travelling accross the world.

Sorry to hear that :(

The best way you can honour his memory is to take your idea's and push them to their fullest and live up to the potential that he saw in you.

My condolance's in a hard time
