hi guys i have the Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
with 6slots for RAM, with 6gb ram installed, so was thinking another 3x2gb sticks and i have 12gb, but my question is, does the new RAM sticks have to match the ones already in the motherboard exactly or can it be different?

yea i do 3d modelling and video editing, currently studying final year at university and in a few months time will rendering out some seriously heavy 3d models, its not like i really need the 12gb but if it seriously cuts down my render times then thats more time to make it look pretty.
 
oh yea another question if anybody would know. would the extra RAM make a big difference for rendering and video editing. i figure it will, obviously more is better, but just want to know if anyone knows by how big a difference?.

++ im running core i7 950 oc to 4ghz would 12gb ram affect that?
