My 290 has been fine since Jan using an EK block. While on the desktop the other day the screen messed up and blue screened.
I didn't think too much of it until I started up the next day and it was still there.
I reinstalled, checked ram, used differend PCI-e power leads, reseated card to no avail. I then tried a HD5450 that I had hanging around and it was fine. However when I put the 290 back on it was also fine and I gamed the evening on it without any issues.
Yesterday when I switched on it was back and I have not been able to get rid of it (except in safe mode where it is fine. It is also fine until it hits the login screen)
My initial thoughts are some kind of vram malfunction but it doesnt explain why it went away and came back. Perhaps there is a dodgy solder joint somewhere
Not the best pic below but you can see the red sparklies everywhere
Next step is to remove it and try and refit the water block. Failing that put the air cooler on and try in a different comp but as I said, the 5450 is fine in this machine and slot so unless the PSU is messing up on the PCIE rails I can't see it being that
If all fails I will need to look into RMA. Cart is VTX3D (non-pre flashed) from here
