I have the upgrade bug :D Can anyone honestly say if the 290x in crossfire is worth the extra?

I having the same issue I had when picking 7970 or 7950 and I been very happy with my 7950's that not even thought I needed 7970's.

I really would like to wait for AMD next line up of GPU's but think we long way off that?

Go for the 290Ps in CF

The difference between 290Xs and 290Ps for gaming is so small that you would not notice it unless you have FRAPS running.

+1 to this.

You'll be allot better off doing 290s you will save a ton of money and you aren't really compromising much performance

What I am thinking :D
How likely will we see New GPU's say around May? I would hate to buy now and see 20nm cards in next 4 months come out lol

I was in the same boat as you, and went for the 290's in crossfire - couldn't be happier. For the extra you would have to pay, I just can't see the point when this difference is not visible unless you produce figures when benching them.

As for 20nm, I think someone here posted up a link that said April/May for the low/mid range cards - top end probably towards the end of this year at a guess.

you gonna get a bigger monitor shanks? i know you wanna upgrade but surely you want to wait for mantle right? or are you thinking of getting in before in case they go up in price afterwards???

What are the 290's like in CF? I currently have one but thinking of getting another one, I only game at 1080 res and apart from BF4. Most of the games I play are "console ports"

It is something I looking into. Not sure if I want multi monitor or a 1440p display.
They is still some games I play at 1080p max settings and don't push 120fps solid. Think 1080p is still very demanding.

Gibbo said nvidia won't be refreshing their high end until late in the year, so I'd presume we wont see an amd refresh until xmas or later given how relatively new the 290's are compared to the gk110 cards. So buy in confidence, 20nm still seems a way off yet.

Are there blocks for the MSI gaming edition 290s?

Is it worth getting the gaming edition if going water? Or just grabbing cheaper reference versions?
