So earlier this week my Uber Laptop R4 17 with 32gb RAM and a GTX 1080 turned itself off while it was just in windows and wouldn't turn on again.
When I disconnected and replugged in the power adaptor, the green light on the adaptor turned off - possibly indicating a short somewhere and potentially a bad motherboard from the research I found with people experiencing similar issues. I took the bottom of the case off and can't smell any burning so I don't believe anything has blown up.
Unfortunately the system was bought in May 2017, so its just over 2 years old and therefore just out of warranty. Has anyone had any experience with Alienware honouring out of warranty repairs for free?
Before I contact Dell / Alienware I want to be in the best possible position to argue my rights, I believe statutory rights give me 6 years to expect a product to work for?
I will speak to Dell / Alienware tomorrow when I have time but thought i'd see if anyone else had experiences with them.
