It can be argued that the a few of the higher end boards from the enthusiasts series (R3E/R3BE & R4E/R4BE) actually have shown benefits from water cooling the mosfets as they can get quite hot during overclocking. I own both the R3BE and R4BE and both get quiet hot when I had them under air. Is it absolutely necessary for everyday use? No I don't believe so, but it looks great and keeps those mosfets A LOT cooler. The cooler they stay, the longer their life span will be
