R5 2600 @ 4GHZ + 6700XT 1440P - Any point upgrading CPU?

Think it depends on what games you play, in 1440p there are probably quite a few games that would be improved with a better CPU

I'm on a B450 MSI PRO CARBON mobo, and I don't want to chnage MOBO, I'm taking it as read the new V-Cache CPU's won't work on it?

So basically i'm limited to the 5000 at most.

Yeah it's six cores again, I kinda think if i'm upgrading I want more cores.

It's looking like the best option, I fancied 12 cores with the 3900 series, but really am I ever going to utilise 12 cores for gaming during it's lifespan? (3-5 years I guess)

5800x is much better for gaming as it has lower latency and higher clock speeds. Unless you're using it for work, the 3900 will be the worse option.
