interesting, it mentions that that card will be using embedded dram. if thats the case then expect 16xAA with no performance hit whatsoever.

i made that thread, its the EXACT same specs as was listed on the enquirer and on several other sites but people went 'its fake crap, don't listen' and 'no way it'll be as good as 8800GTX', just itching to see them eat their words

It IS still speculation at this point though.

It's unlikely anybody will really know how fast it is, how well it does Dx10, and what the nVidia response is for a couple of months yet, so lets keep our feet firmly on the ground here shall we?

This thing looks like a monster, remember the R300 that put ATI on the map? well I think that R600 will be a similar milestone. The ring bus memory architecture is very innovative and the massive memory bandwidth will increase the performance significantly, especially given the new high resolution textures of games that will be release in a year or so.....

And if that thing has a whopping 50MB of DRAM then it could probably handle loads of AA at massive resolutions! :cool:

I personally believe that the R600 will take the crown of best D3D10 card. The 8800 / G80 seems good now but hmm, I would wait till this comes out!

bah even if it is speculation, which I don't think it is, it would still beat G80 based cards, or ATI(AMD :confused:

)) are gonna have an awkward time with their shareholders.

shorter than the 8800GTX? damn! the 8800GTX is 1.5" too long to fit in my case without moving the hdd cage to the 5.5" bay (innovative case design ftw!) but I would rather have my hdd cage in a tidy area

Will go ATI for the first time ever and sell my 7950GT 512mb if this is good price!

Ok so its ATI, who are never on schedule anyway - but even if its only partly true there will be a lot of interest in it and I cant wait, Im lucky in that I couldnt afford a G80 until then anyway so if its slightly delayed even better.

I wonder how many crossfire boards will be defunct if these babies are wider than anything before - I realise some G80 upgraders had to change mobo too (or it was initally recommended I believe) wonder if ATI crossfire users will have to also.....

Am I the only guy on here that's worried about power consumption? If hardware keep going at this rate I'm going to have to invest in a generator to keep my bills down.

Around the same as a 8800GTX, but it will be 40-50W at idle...

the thing that suggest R600 being faster is that EVERYWHERE states ATIs unified shaders are far more complex and not simple scalar units the 8800 series uses, i don't see why people fine that specification so hard to believe, its just so shouting 'next generation', i mean ATI already have 512-bit (256-bit bi-directional) ringbus memory interface, so 1024-bit isn't so impossible to believe, also hear it has 32-bit connection to the ringbus for each memory chip, that sounds impressive, but is ATI capable of it, sure why not? and hopefully it will feature the e-dram the x-box 360 features, AA without any performance penalty sounds fantastic in theory

well going back a few months a lot of those in the know mainly @ rage3d strongly tipped R600 to be an absolute monster like the 9700 was in it's time....even though it's an ATI hangout it's not always fanboy city there.

i think over the last couple of years ati have proven themselves to be more innovative than nvidia that's for sure.

in saying that i'm hawking my xtx for a 8800gtx, maybe i should hold out a couple of months.
