R600 or G80

Stupid thread really...

With the R600 coming out in march? it better beat the G80 ... 5 months more development time is a long time in this industry.

I hope it is twice as fast as then ill be due an upgrade ;) and like easyrider I will sell my 8800gtx and upgrade for £100ish again

But can someone help me, should i buy a R600 or the G90 !! help plz!!!11

indeed the 680 is proving a good chipset, better than 965/975 by a fair wack, but its obvious that the newer NVIDIA chipset will beat the old chipsets, i mean thats just obvious, same way its obvious that C2D beats K8, generation ahead, and how R600 will properbly beat G80, its inevitable, newer hardware beats the old stuff (most of the time, sometimes not i must admit)

that depends of these rumours floating around about R600 are true, if they are, hell go with ATI cause the rumours show one hell of a powerful card, in a totally different league to G80, and all these R600 rumours are bull**** are gonna die when it comes out and has some 128 unified pipelines, some immense 1024-bit memory interface and 1Gb onboard memory or something along those lines, i mean everyone i know was like  when the first specification for the 360 hit the net saying 'that'll be complete bull, theres no way something can have 48 pipelines when there PC cards only have 16, and three processors...whatever', stop sticking your boot into R600 before any reliable information has hit the net, until then its cloak and dagger stuff like the G80 specifications you were all creaming over...:p

Edit: and the whole 128 pipe business was me being sarcastic before anyone mentions it :p

An "Enthusiast"? Slapping in the fastest cards/Cpu's available etc doesn't seem like "Enthusiast" to me. Is a pc Enthusiast forum about showing off the latest GFX card? - I nwouldn't have thought so...

Clocking to death current GFX cards, and getting superb benchmarks sound more "enthusiast" to me :)

Remember how good the rumours made the x1950xtx to be before launch and look what that turned out like. I couldnt click the cancel order button quick enough when the NDA was lifted on release. :p

We will just have to wait and see.

I nearly ordered one myself  :D

indeed, for ATIs sake it must be better than G80 though, but what can you do except wait, must admit the 8800GTS is tempting, just to see how fast you can make it go under watercooling ;)
