Hello all!

Got a wonderful Acer Aspire M1100 box here (AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Dual Core 2.1ghz, 2gb ram) which I'm in charge of making it light game worthy. The game in question is Minecraft, and sadly the integrated x1200 is a bit...old. Would something like a R7 240 do the box justice? I selected the 1gb GDDR5 card as I doubt the R7 would make full use of 2gb at GDDR3. Also the resolution of this monitor is only 1280x1024 and I doubt that will change.

Thoughts and feedback welcome :)

EDIT: The budget is £50 for graphics, and I am on MM if people think it's worth it. PSU is generic 250w so can't really go with a card that requires external power...

Well the new GPU would be a big improvement over that integrated, but a 2.1GHz Athlon 64 X2 will be quite a limiting factor I would have thought as MC only uses one thread and is very IPC/GHz hungry.

From what I've heard of Minecraft, it is a very CPU intensive application and isn't very stressful on the GPU at all - so with that said it would be better to save the money for a CPU+Motherboard upgrade rather than getting a dedicated GPU.
