I've been taking a look online at graphics cards and I've seen a GTX 770 4GB for a fair price. I was wondering if it would be a good upgrade to my R7 260x? I've noticed some particles on Fallout 4 and other games so I think my GPU is on its way out anyway. The GPU I'm looking at is second hand.

Fallout 4, I'm playing it at the moment and it glitches a lot, The other day I was a bit concerned it was my card so I checked several other games and they're fine, The glitching comes and goes. I'm on AMD as well so test some other games before blaming your card you may not need to spend money on anything yet.

I also had a 4gb 770 a while ago, An MSI gaming edition, It was an okay card that is a good chunk faster than a 260x..

Depends what price the 770 was. You could always take a look at the price of a second hand 280X is, which was slightly faster than a 770. The 280X are going for between £90 - £130 and with the newer AMD drivers they have gained a bit more performance too.

I used to have one and my lad is using it now for 1080P gaming and he plays most of the top games on it with no issues at all.

I would definately look at both those cards, but it does depend on your budget and what price you are being offered the 770. a second hand 290/290X would be something to look at too if you fancy a great bang for buck card at the moment (again doing really well with current drivers).

:)

EDIT- you got the 770 price in as I was writing this reply. £120 isnt bad and it's coming from someone you know and there are no delivery charges etc.. Still, check those other cards out too. You never know what deals you may find.

£120 (ish)

I think that's too much. I sold my 7970 lightning edition for £80 almost 6 months ago and that card is faster than a 770. I'm sure if you stretched the budget slightly more you can get a second hand 290 for 130-150. Not much more for something much much faster.

I'm not great with GPU's. Would an R9 380x perform a lot better than my current card then? I want something that's going to give me a much better performance and I thought the 770 would do that.

The 380x is 20% faster than a gtx770 and about 100% faster than you're 260x.

I'd go for a 290 or 780, they will offer a very nice improvement, should be able to get one for about £120-140. That 770 is overpriced, overclockers were selling them new for about that.
