I already have X62 cooler. Even with 10% off it's still quite a lot more than the 2700.2700X is better I think, as you'll need to buy a decent cooler to get 2700 to 2700X levels which eats into any savings you might make on CPU anywaay
Does the 2700 overclock easily to 2700x performance? Same way last gen it was wise to buy a 1700 and overclock it to match 1700x.
Still the case? Whats the best buy?

great idea!Prices on the 2700X vary from as low as £280 up to £319, and the 2700 from £250 to £280. I'd grab the cheapest 2700X I could find, and sell the cooler on the MM for £30, net cost is then the same.![]()
Is this suitable to pair with a 2700x? Decent? Would I gain much by going up to 3400Mhz+?

OK... So I am confused...There is no guarantee that you'll manage 3200MHz with that kit, and the timings could do with being a bit lower to get the most from the CPU, you might be able get them down to 14-14-14 with more volts and a bit of luck.![]()
Good heavens. I mean how is Joe public supposed to know that??
Can you just recommend me a kit of 16gb for less than £200 that will work nicely.
