There was a fan bug with the new AMD softeware which stopped fans spinning as far as i'm aware? Check the latest hotfix

Oh didn't see about a new driver, will try it and report back. Is it worth un-installing all of old stuff or is just a hotfix to patch?

If the fans aren't spinning then your artifacts are probably caused by the card overheating. I wouldn't use it for long in that state.

Best to remove the old driver fully I find :)

They didn't stop spinning - they simply were locked to 20%, causing the card to throttle down to low clock speeds, reducing performance.

Still dead, old driver gone and installed an older version.

Unsure were to go from here

Bought from Ocuk 15 months ago its a Gigabyte R9 280 Windforce 3X

Only 15 months? Then you should still have some warranty. Minimum is 2 years I think.

If you're confident the card is dead then post in the CS forum near the top and you'll get some help to initiating an RMA and getting a replacement :)

That cheered me up, downside is Gigabyte are investigating this and i cant rma at this time

That's crazy. The card is dead. If gigabyte want to blame AMD and make them pay is irrelevant to you as the customer.

I'd be going back to the retailer and insisting on a fix. If they can't resolve in a reasonable time frame they would have to refund you.

Ill phone Ocuk/Gigabyte tomorrow to go through any procedures they recommend before declaring it fully dead.
It might be a good idea to recording a brief video to show the fault.

I wouldn't be too worried about it, as I'm confident it will be sorted for you in the end as the card is still under warranty, may it be by OcUK or Gigabyte.

Also if I am not mistaken, Gigabyte warranty is 3 years, and they have a UK based center at Milton Keynes...so it will not be as expensive as the shipping cost to other parts of Europe.

"instead of water in the tubes we're going to put petrol"

And

"then we will stop the fans again"

Haha glad you liked it! Any word from gigabytes interesting to know how each of the company's handle this "issue"
