I have a sapphire R9 280 and was wondering is it worth selling? It's never been overclocked as never needed too.

What is the best card to upgrade to as I only game at 1080p at the moment but will be looking to upgrade in the future.

i would remove the part about asking for a price check as this is not allowed outside the members market.

what budget do you have in mind for a new card?

Its about as fast as a R9 380/gtx 960. Buying new you are looking at R9 390/gtx 970 and above for any appreciable perf gain.

Have edited it to is it worth selling? Not really got a budget in mind. Got a rm650w psu which I don't really want to change so a gpu that wouldn't draw to much power and would be capable of maybe 4K in a year or 2.

Would a 390/970 be ok in a year or 2 if I upgrade my monitor? Surely I would need more vram than what the 970 has.

i think its worth selling as it can go towards a new card.

list the rest of your PC specs

what games do you play as well?

at 1080P you maybe looking at a 970\380 but for anything higher depending on how much ewye candy you require you may need a better card like 980\ti or 390. failing that you can wait a bit more for Nvidia to release their new gpus (not too sure when that is im affraid but someone might lol)

It's in my siq. I don't plan to upgrade the rest anytime soon.

My instinct is to wait for the new generation of gpus coming this year/2017. When you upgrade the monitor in 1-2 years you will have the hit both from more graphically demanding games and the increased resolution, especially at 4k.

Ultimately depends if you are happy with the level of performance of your current card and can wait. The only card worth considering in light of your planned 4k upgrade, assuming you intend to keep it for a while, and if you had to buy now is the 980ti imo. The Fury's 4GB ram will be an issue at 4k down the road and the 390/390x have the ram but less gpu horsepower than Fury. But the 980ti is pricy and will be average by the time you're using 4k in 2 yrs time.

Yeah I can wait I can get smooth 60fps on most games I play at the moment. I just get the upgrade itch every so often haha.

Could have a play oc'ing it, the 280 ought to be capable of 1100-1150 on the core without much trouble. Cooler depending.

(Also see edit above, forgot to refresh page before editing so didn't see your new post).

It's a dual x design and when the fans ramp up it can be quite loud but no need as it gets what I want most of the time.

I agree with you're edit think I will wait and see what the need cards bring. I'm not fussed with either brand I'm not bothered only about performance/price.
