Guys
My bro has the following setup :
i7 920 d0 @ 3.4
6gb ram
EX58 UD3
Windows 8
He bought a new card ( R9 280X Sapphire Dual X ).
He is getting very low performance of BF4, framerate is very poor (average 40 fps) although it does spike up and down, we have even lowered the settings and frame rate doesn't change a great deal
Strange thing is the GPU usage is all over the place and doesn't go higher than 60-65. ( the only time it goes to 99 is when BF4 is loading a map!).
We tried my GTX 670 in his machine as that is what i'm using in mine ( same kind of setup although my processor is slightly faster @ 4ghz ) and its ran much much better than the R9 card, frame rate was well into the 80s ( vsync off ) and everything ran much much smoother.
Im very happy with my 670 and thought his new R9 card would be better than mine, to be honest its like half the card the 670 is.
We have tried drivers etc and no difference, it seems like the card is underperforming, would his system be bottlenecking the card at all?
As said the GTX 670 runs perfect on his system with full GPU usage and a great frame rate.
Any help would be great.
