So I got my Sapphire R9 280x Toxic OC edition in the post a couple of hours ago, I set it up, installed the drivers, installed Payday 2 and excitedly started playing.
I played the game for about 15 minutes before it crashed on me. So I started again and this time the game run fine for about another 15 minutes where instead of crashing I was getting random flickering every now and then.
I stopped playing and started playing some Arkham Asylum to see if this was a graphics card problem or Payday exclusive. But the problem was still there, in game everything was fine and I didn't get any flickers at all.
I played for about 15 minutes when it go to a cut scene and there was flickering all over the place, when the cut scene finished it went back to the game and the flickering went away.

I then installed Furmark and ran that and about 5 minutes later the whole screen was glitching out.
So I installed the latest AMD beta drivers (14.1) and restarted the computer.
I ran Furmark again and I have had very minor glitches for about 15 minutes, like a couple of random squares about the screen. After about 20 minutes though so far all the glitches have gone and it seems to be running stable.

Is this normal for graphics cards to do? I've never had a very high end graphics card like this before. Is there a fault with the graphics card or possibly something else in my system?
I did a quick Google search and it seems quite a few people have had similar problems but they all sent back their cards for new ones. Will I have to do the same?

If I do have to send it back, how do I go about doing that? I bought the card here at Overclockers.

Sorry if I seem confused, but this is a first time for me.

System -
Gigabyte 990FXA-Ud3
AMD 8320
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 2133mhz 2x4GB ram
(this is not running at indicated speeds as when set as that on the bios the system wouldn't load so its running at motherboard defaults)
Corsair H80 CPU cooler
XFX pro 750w PSU
120gb Samsung evo basic SSD
Sapphire R9 280x Toxic OC

Several posts regarding the 280 & artifacts at stock speeds.
I've returned my MSI 280X today & swopped to a 290.

I'd consider RMA'ing the card back to Overclockers.

Just send them a webnote requesting an RMA number & they'll email you back with details of how to go about returning the card.

I sent a webnote and was advised to RMA the card and switch to a Nvidia setup.
Though I got an AMD card in the first place because I wanted the features those cards have. I'm more interested in Mantle than I am Gsync or Shadowplay.

Should I go for another 280x? or is this artifacting affecting all cards?

What cards would you guys suggest for something around the £300 mark if I should change?
I was hoping to eventually crossfire / sli the card when it gets too slow for me. But I only have a 750w power supply (XFX) so i dont want something that has too much power usage.

I'm thinking of going for the Sapphire Vapor-X 280x it isn't clocked as high and will have more room in the case for when I want to crossfire.

The bit I highlighted made me proper lol. As for what to replace it with, you can try again. You would be unlucky to get another that artifacts but you wouldn't be the first.

This is the actual quote - "Unfortunately there is not fix. I would recommend you go Nvidia." which made me laugh when I read it too.

i would advice you to go with nivida cause i got a sapphire vaporr x last week and need to rma because of the black screen issue which is happening far to often with amd cards/brillant card though,oc to 1200/1780/temps are the best ive had, idle 35 load 69 and thats with 45% fan and high volts/maybe ive jst been unlucky

But would this power supply be powerful enough to crossfire 2 290's though?
Also I wouldn't get with the Toxic edition again, its a very tight fit in my case and I'd prefer it to be more roomy for when I upgrade.
