R9 280X VRM Temps

Received my Asus R9 280X DirectCUII TOP from OcUK earlier today and it's brilliant! There's one very minor thing though... VRM 1 temp hits around 64C max which is fine, but VRM 2 is always stuck at either 25C or 26C no matter the load! Is it just a stuck sensor? Could this be the memory VRM temps (which i suppose wouldn't be high)?

Can any other 280X owners let me know their VRM temps please (using GPU-Z or HWinfo 64).

Cheers

Probably just a stuck sensor or perhaps the monitoring software. Tried any other temp reading progs?

Either way, I wouldn't worry as VRM1 is the hot one. As long as that's ok, the other one should be too.

I'm now thinking the board doesn't actually have a VRM 2 sensor (just a false reading from GPU-Z and HWiNFO64)... I say this as i've just installed the 'Asus GPU Tweak' utility and it only displays a single VRM temp (the one that actually works).

It's probably just down to Asus not using the reference power phase design (which is a good thing as this card is 100% coil whine free :)).

I'm actually surprised Asus chose not to cool the memory chips with this card (they're completely exposed)... These chips are rated at 1500MHz but Asus have them running at 1600MHz (6400MHz effective) without additional cooling.

Anyone else here actually own an Asus R9 280X?
This thread is OOOOOLLLLDDD so maybe you don't care anymore but anyway

ya the new version. DCuII top "3GD5" , old revision is "v2"
V2 takes up 3 slots.
3GD5 takes up 2 slots
I read on another forum also
3GD5 - 6400 Mhz memory,DirectCU II + "Exclusive CoolTech Fan", 6+8 pin, 300W
V2 - 6000 Mhz memory, normal DirectCU II, 8+8 pin, 375W

hot compared to yours lol (coin mining though doubt it would get this hot gaming)

underclocked gpu core 1070 > 1000 (faster coin mining with slower clock lol)
underclocked mem 1600 >1500 since I doubt it will make a difference to me and they get bloody hot!
