Im hoping the latest ones since i have linked them too him a couple of times. I'm trying to confirm this with him right now though. There is a possibility he is using the ones off the disc.

Ta for the quick reply btw!

Edit: They were the disc ones. He is updating them now to see if it works.

Crysis did this to me all the time with my 7950.

Is he playing over HDMI? Switching to Dual-link DVI pretty much solved all my issues with Crysis (black borders, crashing when switching options, etc).
+1 (but was with a NVidia GPU) Crysis 1 use to give me loads of problems over HDMI to my plasma as it would default the output to 24hz ..:(
But I don't know if my problem is the same problem as the op has...

He is using VGA at 1600*1050 on a PC monitor.
Tried it on a TV screen too with the same result.

Odd that its only Call of Duty 4 that does this though...

The adapter won't turn the VGA into digital, essentially it is still running through an unsupported analogue VGA output.

so what are you saying exactly?

a DVI to VGA adapter wont work and would cause the problems described?
I know some manufacturers have reinstated VGA support, such as MSI.

DVI to VGA could be the problem is what I'm saying.

However, a quick google reports AMD is aware of a flickering issue and the driver team are working on a fix and to use driver-AMD Catalyst 13.10 WHQL (13.200.0.0 September 11) you can download it here:

Lots of users reporting it stops flickering, try that driver.

If it works, report back as it will be helpful for others.:)

I have a similar setup, I am using an Asus R9 280X Matrix Platinum with a VGA adapter on an old Belinea VGA only monitor. (1680x1050)
I have just tried Crysis (Steam version) and I could change options just fine. I then went into the game and it ran perfectly and I could also pause the game and change options and apply them without issue.

I have tried many other games using the above setup and all have ran just fine but unfortunately I can't try CoD4 as I don't own the game.

I have been using the 13.11 beta 8 drivers btw.

Maybe look into the motherboard bios ? Fussy gits sometimes these mobos with new cards. You never know there might be an update the gives your mobo better compatibility with the newer cards.

Anyway, just another idea for the hat. A very interesting thread. Good luck with it all.
