Hi all

I'm considering upgrading my r9 285 2gb gpu to gtx 970 or an r9 390, is it worth the upgrade or not as I only play at 1080p.
Or should I look at getting another r9 285/380 to run in crossfire.

Don't bother with a new 970 (though a cheap used one isn't a bad shout) and especially 380. They are using older architecture now and the new 480 is the one to go for right now at 1080p. The new 470 should also be released soon if your budget can't stretch to a 480.

The GTX 1060 released in a week and a half should also be very good for 1080p but more expensive than the 480. If you can get a cheap used 390 they are still top cards and also benefit from DX12/Vulkan technology for future games. Would advise a 390 over 970 too.

I will keep an eye out for a used 390 until the 1060 is released and see how much they are going and make a decision then, thanks for the reply
