Hello,

I'm getting a black screen ,running eyefinity, whenever I try to load a game within the couple minutes of me cold booting.

If i wait for it to warm up it's okay and I'm not getting any crash under full loads but only when its cold.

does anyone have an idea what this could be?

I've got an RMA email. should I get it tested?

I've got Eplida memory before I'm asked.

any help would be appreciated
thanks

I'm aware of the workaround but wondered what it could be. Hardware or software????????

is it sudden heating of the gpu or memory or software taking time to load?

thanks

p.s. I don't like tea.

I would drop down to 1 screen. Run Heaven as soon as you boot. If it black screens, it is faulty (IMO) and if it runs fine, something else is at play.

There is so many issues with the black screen and users who have a good one are saying it is PEBKAC but that doesn't help the people who have issues. Hopefully someone who is clued up on this will jump in with some advice but seems they are too busy bragging how good Mantle is :D

I lol'ed :)

As above, very common but go down to single screen and see if the same occurs. The fact it's ok after a bit of heat suggests to me hardware. Possibly solder fracturing or similar. Throw it back at the supplier kindly :). Try reseating the card as well if you haven't already.

If you are going to RMA be warned they wont boot up and test it right away, they will most likely let it load fully.
unless they actually try and test for your fault.

i would take some video evidence of the issue over a couple days to show exactly the issue and it happening a few times.

My R9 290 was like this with the memory at stock clocks, every single time I went to play BF4 for the first time my card black screened. Sometimes my PC was on for hours before I started playing a game. I sent the card back and they found it to be faulty so I got a refund.

That video shows the problem I had, I started up my PC then at stock clocks then started BF4.

I will do that and post a link to youtube when i get the chance. I'll include a detailed description so hopefully they will read it before.

thanks everyone. I'm going to RMA it with a DETAILED description of the problem and link with video evidence.

p.s. I tried with one screen and got the same problem.

solder fractures does sound logical but It's just strange that it only happens loading a game in the first two minutes. I can browse, watch videos straight away. just not load a game.

Does this sound related the the memory chip on the board as I assume that it gets hit hard when loading a game, as opposed to browsing.

I read somthing about eplida memory being faulty (which I have)

thanks all
