Hi,

So I'm looking to get some waterblocks for my 290s. I've had the EK blocks on order for a while now (no stock). I'm just wondering how the AquaComputer 290X blocks compare?

Do they both cool all the VRMs and everything? I seem to recall XSPC blocks not doing so great on that front.

I know there seems to be a lot of people saying the AquaComputer blocks are ugly, but I think visually I prefer them. However I won't see them much so want to make sure they match up well performance wise too.

Has anyone used both or either?
Has anyone found a review comparing both? (Most reviews I've found just compare the block to air cooling)

P.S. Am I the only one that can understand why the AquaComputer 'Black Editions' are cheaper? I thought Black Editions were usually better!

Neither of them actively cool the small group of VRMs at the front of the card, but they both have water passing over the long strip at the rear.

Get whichever you like the look of tbh :)

So is there a better 3rd option that does cool all the VRMs? (I take it they're still cooled via touching the copper part of the block, just no waterflow over the area?)

Heatkiller blocks better?
XSPC blocks better?

None of them do afaik. They're much of a muchness and I'd pick between EK, Heatkiller and Aquacomputer based on looks and availability.
And yes, they all have contact via the block and thermal pads in that area.

I have three EK copper/plexi ones fwiw and that's because they were available and the right price. Otherwise, I'd have probably gone for Aqua simply due to looks.

personal preference i get EK blocks but that is mainly because i have had no problems with them in the past so you stick with what you know
