Hello all just thought I would start a thread where we can all submit our R9 290 overclocking specs and results:)

Please tell us:
Card model + Reference/non reference
Overclocking utility used plus your settings
Core clock
Memory clock & if possible memory manufacturer
Voltages
Temperatures
Cooling method

Look forward to some results:D

Sapphire R9 290 reference
Trixx +200mv +50% pl
1200 core
1500 memory (elpida)
voltage was around 1.3v despite the increase in mv, this was due to not setting fixed voltage in trixx which enables it to run in offset mode.
50-54c core | VRM1 54c | VRM2 58c
Watercooled using an EK full cover block

I didn't push the core/memory although it would clock further as i started to see negative gains in valley. I could find out what the max stability is later i suppose but i found the sweetspot to be 1200 core 1400 memory.

Edit: oh and i ran the cpu at 5ghz for the valley run @ 1.35v :)

Nice, although I get 1.42v on the core if I increase +200mv / +50.

Where is the fixed voltage setting you have disabled

-0.037v 1000/1250
-0.037v 1050/1250
-0.037v 1050/1300
0.000v 1100/1400

Not really experimented going further 24/7 stable, though i have done bench runs as high as 1290/1625 with +200mv.

under the settings tab in trixx,

nice clock matt, i don't think my core can reach 1250 without artifacts iirc.

I might have a go tonight, still want to break 3k in valley :)

Yeah i think both of mine will do 1250+ without artifacts, if i keep them cool enough. :p

Yep I have constant voltage unticked and using valley haven and firestrike I will hit 1.42v for me to stay around 1.3v I only have to apply 100mv+:o

Anyone know the cause of this?

Mabey the overclock, GPU Load

hay, what is a healthy increase to the MV in afterburner? i am runnign a reference 290 with+ 56 to get 1100/1348. is it safe to go any higher? i have just moved over from using GPU tweak where the mv was 1306. How does this relate to after burners way of increasing, when i had a 7950 it just gave a straight voltage reading.
cheers

Up to +100mv is safe on air. Are you sure you need as much as +56mv for 1100/1368? Both my 290 Pro cards will do 1100/1400 on stock voltage ala +0.00mv.

thanks to the quick reply.. il give it another go and see.. so with +100 is that the save as 2.18mv? im not great with numbers, am trying to get my head around it

Stock for 290 is around 1.18-1.2v. With vdroop this ends up around 1.15v-1.175v.

+100mv will be 1.3v
+200mv will be 1.4v

have taken it back to stock volts and was able to benchmark on heaven with no problem... il have a mess around later and see what i can get with a further increase.. thanks again for your help... also is 1.4 acceptable if under water? what kind oc overclock could be expected from this?
take care

1.4V is fine under water, as long as the vrms are cooled under water as well. I would expect 1200-1250 core under water.

mine will only do 1050-ish on stock, rand memory at 1300, not tried that any higher.
Toying with getting newer cards to see if they OC better, but not really sure it's worth it.
