ok my card is dying I know this because to play civ6 I have now had to use afterburner and up the voltage ..extra 100mv and 50%
now I just have to know how long will this last ? it's on water it's not o/c anymore
was getting the d1 blue screen :(
so what do you reckon 3-6 months ?

How longs a piece of string? It could go anytime.

Cracking GPU the r9-290, I have one my self (XFX DD), I would say it’s the best GPU I’ve ever had, after all this time it still hold up against the 1060 and 580 once overclocked a little. It plays everything well enough, even VR games! Just ride it out until there’s no life left in the little beat, Now’s an awful time buy a new GPU, ok the prices are finally coming down to RRP levels, but there’ ‘could’ be a new generation arriving any month now.

I got the 290x around 4 yrs back. Like DONOHUE above says - I cannot believe the current cards like 1060/70 dont really improve on it for the price they are commanding. Its definitely a case of continue on till the release of 11 series cards soon and shift over at that point rather than get a 10 series card which is 2 year old tech.

I'll also agree with the 2 post above, keep it going as long as you can until it just gives up.

I'm still using an MSI R9 290 which I've had since it was launched and I don't really struggle with any of the games which I play at 1080p or VR for that matter of fact, the R9 290/X is probably one of the best GPU's ever launched in the past 10 years..!

Generally a graphics card dying doesn't cause a windows bluescreen. It might be another part of your system or even just corrupted software.
