R9 290X Owners Thread

ok so ...
on GPU Z if i adjust the core vol and reset defaults its shows VDDC at 0.961v at 50mv its shows 1.008v & at 100mv shows 1.055v at idle max under load at 100v its 1.250v in heaven

Sounds about right. I meant to test he voltage under 3d load, but nevermind. It sounds like voltage is working. 1.25v sounds right after some vdroop.

Balls out out of the box, going higher. Cooler is a monster

Hello Gentlemen....and ladies, if there are any here,

I'm in the market for a 290X, I've fallen in love with the OCUK's version with the KRAKEN watercooler attached, however I'm curious, is it really worth the extra cash and going for a self contained unit? I already have a H100 cooling my i7, but I think it's time to upgrade my GPU from the old 6950 to the newest and best.

I know there's going to be a lot of differing opinions here, but thats why I came, which is the best and quietest 290X?

I haven't noticed any issues with either 7970CF or 290 Trifire tbh. They all clock the same whether single or in tandem.

What can you get with a single card and do both cards have fairly equal clocking ability to your knowledge?

Just disabled CF and they wouldn't really go much more on just one, perhaps 1140 tops stable.

Just checked a couple of reviews Guru3D had a max O/C of 1125 and Techpowerup managed 1140, so I guess they wont go much higher, unless I flash the Bios or go past 100mV???

I can manage 1200/1550 on my reference cards with relative ease with +100mv. No artifacts or instability or anything. Could probably go a bit higher on the memory as well. I would've thought your AIB cards would go a bit higher than that.
