R9 290X Owners Thread

well, I am not firmly on my way back to AMD, instead of triple 290 4gb cards, this time on triple 8gb 290x's :)

Would have liked to hold out for the new cards, but hey ho.

I will be :)

Would be too much noise otherwise - that and three powercolor cards wouldn't fit with their massive coolers.

Definitely for the best with multiple AIB cards in an enclosed case. Shout if you need any help once you're up and running. :)

Well, at this point am just hoping it's a smoother experience than when I left... especially BF4.

But at that point also had eyefinity. Am hoping things will be better on single 4K screen - with the added framebuffer :)

The only thing I am unsure of is whether I should be putting ramsinks on - using EK thermosphere blocks, not full cover.

Reason I went for the powercolor's (apart from price) is that they have sinks already on the vrms, which is handy.

Just not sure if leaving ram naked will be ok. Doubt will be clocking the ram.

Why, they still cool cores effectively.

For me, going water was not so much about lower temps, but getting rid of the noise from multiple graphics cards.

Am happy with universal blocks. Just, as I say, not sure about the ram...

Yeah, there are bottom fans blowing up and will be a 140mm which pushes fair amount of air blowing across them.

Gotta love all the options the enthoo primo gives :)

What's the view of the Sapphire R290 Tri-X OC? I was going for the GTX 970 but not now.
I've got a GTX 580 at the moment. Yay or Nay :)
