R9 290X Owners Thread

Whatever choice you make either cards are the best picks from the lot imo.

I'd say lightning only because I own one. Good overclocks, well built card, quiet operation and bling bling LEDs :) even the packaging it comes in is premium standard

Also, with my recent gpu purchases I got a few codes but I've noticed on the promotion site the never settle bundle tokens expires on the 31 tomorrow :/

I got the codes emailed to me literally today, but will ocuk provide me working codes after the promotion ends or will I have to use them?

Use them today, promotion does end tomorrow!

Hell, glad you pointed that out!

Better get on members market - though was hoping to hang on til had tested all teh cards :/

Surely the codes are still valid, but the promotion itself ends?

What the?

Have previously used the redemption process, but when was trying to log in just now, it asked me to verify. Odd, but clicked on the verification button and my account is now "being reviewed for account activation", which could apparently take 24 hours?

Chances of me having used a different email previously are slim to none... odd.

Hope they don't take too long.

This is because we received a lot of fraudulent activity so we had to put extra security measures in place.

Looking at upgrading my cf 7950 windforce setup to a 290x. I'm currently undecided which brand to go for and whether I should even go for an 8gb card...

I'm really mindful of noise and temperature when choosing a card, since the gigabyte windforce cards I currently own have been superb in this regard. Normally I would simply just go for the Gigabyte windfotce brand again, but my understanding is that the gigabyte windforce 290x isn't as good as the other brands this time round, and that the MSI and Sapphire cards are actually better?

These are the cards I'm looking at, and really the deciding factor is which one has the best temps and noise:

MSI Radeon R9 290X Gaming Edition
MSI Radeon R9 290X LE Lightning Edition
Sapphire Radeon R9 290X Vapor-X
Gigabyte Radeon R9 290X OC WindForce (although not as keen as the others due to many mixed reviews)

The Lightning is the best cooler, followed by the Vapor-X, then PCS and Tri-X. Then it's the ASUS, Gigabyte and Gaming.
