R9 290x ref card or not?

i RMA'ed me reference cooled MSI 290x,
MSI have sent me an R9 290x Gaming 4G Ver2.2 This - https://uk.msi.com/Graphics-card/R9-290X-GAMING-4G.html#hero-overview

Dose that card also use a reference PCB? i am wanting to refit my water block but want to brake any warranty stickers if its not going to fit

Not reference, just looked on the ek site, both msi gaming's are not reference.

Your best of sending it back, saying you want reference card as your putting a block on it.

Yeah I'd kick off and get some sort of compensation! Although it is a better card but no use for you unless they send you a block.

Surprised they gave you a 290x instead of a 390x to be honest, but I would save the aggro, sell and upgrade now before the new Polaris cards get announced and it loses more value.

You cannot compare 1070 with 290X. Looks like the NV still doesn't support Async compute (was nothing on their official announced specs), so the 290X will trash the 1070 when comes to DX12 with Async compute, as it does to the 980Ti.
