hi guys i have just brought a msi R9 390

i was planning on buying this along with i5 4960k devils canyon and new board unfortunately couldnt afford this for a while :(

my question my current rig a10 7850k will this hugley bottleneck R9 390 if used??

im pretty sure yes will be the answer, but its only till i can afford i5 and new board

Your cpu is a massive bottleneck.

On the bright side, Skylake cpus will be launched in a month's time so you probably dodged the bullet by not being able to spend money on a platform going EOL very soon.

i should think it will depend on the game a lot but should be ok!
just put it high res as you can hehe

Expensive as eff but then so are the Haswells now so the difference won't be massive. I'd be on the lookout for deals on DDR4 on the approach to the launch.

Well bottleneck it is but surprisingly better than thought. After driver issue (thinking its a 290) I got it working my old 280 scored 5900 ish in 3d mark

This 380 got 7980 and batman arkham knight highest frame 105 avg was 64.5 and min 39 ish will post some screenshots

Dirt rally avg was 83

Haven't benched anything else yet I'm sure with decent cpu will break 10k on 3d mark

At the end of the day you're happy and that is all that counts
now you just got to save cash for new mobo rsm and cpu
grats by the way

It was 1080p firestrike normal (not the extreme one anyways)

Will have cash for cpu by time there out for sure couple weeks and I will infact

Tried overclocking cpu 4.2ghz is all it will do and I running that now.

No matter how much voltage I chuck at it it wont have anything over 4.2ghz unless someone knows more about apu??

Its on water so not heat issue

Water why you ask?? Because ram psu custom water loop and case all came from my 8350 build chip gave up got 4.9ghz I started the offical 83** thread on here but she died

Clocking apu different story and not as easy for me lol but its all I could afford at time

Anyways like I said any apu clocking help be great I'm used to clocking so have all basics off and checked maybe bad chip silicone wise?? Dunno

Happy for now as I cant afford anything else
It'll have to do for now till sklake hits

To sum up though not bad for £100 ish cpu I don't think (amd fanboy lol)

normally when you are cpu limited the highest fps and avg are not wide like that batman result

but afterburner should tell you more :)

They do seem odd I agree

Just clocked gpu slightly 1040 standard to 1100
And memory from 1500 to 1550 got

8120 on 3d mark combined score low as would be with this cpu

But surprised by that score if I could push cpu I would be happy till skylake hits

yeh its going to depend which games u get into
if they are cpu heavy u might feel the need
if they not you might notice zero difference for a lot of outlay on new cpu
id be more into getting a little ssd if u havent alrdy and get rdy for windows10
