Somewhere, in a field in cheshire... alright!
Hello

I Would like to know if a R9 390 will be asking too much of a Corsair HX620 watt PSU? I've read they can use 400 watts on their own. I'll be gaming at 1440p though not always maxed out. I thought the 8192mb memory would be a better option or do I play it safe with a GTX 970?

Thanks for any advice.

I Game at 1080p, Have the XFX 390 & Overclocked X5650 @ 4.2.

Using a Corsair 650w PSU with no problems. XFX 390 Runs really quiet, max load at 75c in a Fractal Design Define S (Restriction on Some Airflow, Kraken X60 on CPU on the Main Intake).

Not to hijack the OP's thread but I am considering a 390 for my next system, I currently have a XFX Pro 550W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply.

Would this run a 390?

Do Overclockers sell the 6 pin to 8 pin adapters that I'll need. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for.

620W is MORE than enough for a 390. Anyone who told you they can use 400W on their own is talking completely and utter BS, maybe an LN2 clocked one trying to achieve world records or something, the vast majority use around 260W max (at stock).

550W is enough for any single GPU, even an overclocked Fury X/Titan X, so yes, it will handle a 390 fine.

I would imagine the card will come with one... most likely get em for a few £ if you look around though.
