R9 nano audio issues

Hi all,
just built a new rig:
x99, 5820k, 16gb ram, 512GB SM951 (m.2), 1TB 850 pro SSD.
Win 10 pro x64.
Everything up and running........except can't get any audio.
My rig is connected to my Onkyo AVR (5.1), as it was prior to the rebuild (using the rig in my sig) and had no issues.
I did struggle to install catalyst 15.7.1.
So i looked for the R9 nano specific drivers and got 15.201.1102.
Done plenty of reboots and still get no sound out my 5.1 speakers.
No 'bangs' against audio drivers in Device Manager either.

Any ideas? Games kind suck without audio. :(

none of the above seem to apply tbh.
I have 5(?) devices saying "Digital Display Audio". These are all greyed out and saying 'not plugged in'
One saying "Realtek Digital Output"
and one saying "Speakers". This is the only one that shows multiple speaker setups in the 'configure' menu. Yet when i test it i can't hear anything.
The other is thwe "AMD High Definition Audio Device", but that only offers a 2 speakers setup and still can't hear anything when i test it.

Heeelllppppp please!

First try to get the audio working with the Realtek audio device then worry about the AMD audio. Try using headphones to test with rather than direct to the Onkyo AVR.

To confirm the hdmi cable goes from the nano to the back of my onkyo, just as previous rig with gtx970 did (with no issues).
I've also power cycled all devices, again the way i usually would with my old rig.
will try headphones.

ok, so i now have sound, but neither speaker produces sound when i 'test' the setup.

edit: looking at event log for the audio devices....
Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0900&SUBSYS_18491151&REV_1000\4&2d40c0df&0&0001 requires further installation.

have only front speakers through AMD audio though. It doesn't show my 5.1 set.
Only the 'speakers' audio device shows those but when i test no sound can be heard at all.

Try playing some music and see which devices seem to output audio in playback devices manager.

Also how are you connected to your Onkyo AVR? Optic or just the analogue jacks? And are your speakers connected to your AVR?

You need to make sure which ever device is connected to your Onkyo AVR is the output device then your speakers should output sound. But if your trying to get HDMI (AMD HD auidi device) to be the output which the HDMI cable isn't connected to your Onkyo AVR (obviously you can't do this) then you will not get any sound.
