r9 nano - brands

i've seen lots of reviews of the nano and they all mention coil whine i've not seen specific msi, gigabyte or asus nano reviews though...

Are any of the brands better than others yet with regard to removing this?

afaik they all exactly the same under the sticker
warranty only difference
and i dont think any of them cover coil whine??

Some reviews have reported slight coil whine (no more than other cards) but considering these cards are tested in open bench settings, once you stick it in a case you won't notice it at all.

i'm probably a little paranoid about it, but i've just returned an nvidia 970 that my partner said she could hear the whine from when she was downstairs! not good - she could tell when i was gaming

nah, she games too. but if i haven't cleaned out the cat tray or something and she hears it start up... fair enough really - but i don't want to advertise it!

Sorry Joe that just isn't true. I love my Nano and wouldn't change it for any other card, but the coil whine is severe and much worse than my 980Ti and to suggest that you can't hear it in the case is also not true. I can hear mine in my case as it is THAT loud, but you do get used to it.

As its my daughters card I won't be using it that much for gaming as I have the 980Ti for that, but if I were to use it as my primary card I still wouldn't mind the coil whine that much, but I do know most people would.
