R9 Nano Review thread

You amaze me. When the 970 supposedly had issues, you was so vocal and really hated on Nvidia but then you buy a 980? wtf dude lol? Anyways, enjoy what you have fella, not a dig and more of banter and hope you enjoy whatever you go with/stay with :)

the anger towards NVidia is quite simple - once again they were caught with the bs and lies. I bought into the FX 5800 ultra ,cried , then wishing I hadn't , so more money spent on a 9700PRO (HL2 was awesome in DX9).

had more Nv cards than ATI (after my days of 3dfx ones) ; still got an original GF256DDR and an R100 radeon

and that's another lie - ATI built the R100 radeon for the original DX8 spec - then Nv leant on MS and voila , the spec was changed so only the GF3 was complient! , so my distrust goes back man years.

My card(s) work well (well card now - BSODS for 2 months from SLI and **** poor NVidia drivers , meant I have sold 1 off) - but having to alt/tab to get 60hz back when I load a map is bloody annoying.

oh and I lost a GTX 480 thans to an Nv driver turning the fan off as well ;)

The list is far longer tbh ;) was all the voodoo range inc the not released 6k , but getting stung with a 5800 ultra `dust buster` , then having my beloved gtx 480 die (196.75) ; for the thermi quotes - it was a beast at FP64 ; nv learnt from that , crippled Fp64 in desktop then rereleased at 3x the cost as titan

I did have a few AMD cards along the way - 5870/6970/7970 (in the wife machine) , but prefer Nv - until now and the `amazing` windows 10 drivers.....

When I tried Win10 (twice) on my NVidia setup the drivers were total garbage and totally broke my PC, even the mouse would not work and I was forced to go back to Win8.1 as I could not run the PC.

Having said that if you are having problems with 4K/60htz you need to look elsewhere as this was about the only thing that worked for me on Win10 lol.

Make sure you have the latest monitor drivers loaded and you are using a good quality Displayport lead as not all of them are good at 2160p.:)

I heard ATI is coming back !!!

Makes you realize how small the card is. Wow.

I think it looks fine. Not everything needs glam.

Caffeine free coke is the best tasting coke tbh.

As for the card, it looks awesome. I just have absolutely no need for it, and if I did, I wouldn't be paying that much for it sadly.

This is sadly the problem. Great card, wrong price.

Hell if it was £400 I would consider chopping in my 980 for a play with one. It may drop price by the end of the year but by that time we will be so close to the next gen cards that I doubt I will care.

All coke is poison.

That pic is great though. And just think, that is on an old node, with 2 shrinks worth of shrinking waiting in the wings. I wonder how long it would take before you could make it M.2 size.

+1 on the coke is poison remark. I'll wait til the price drops before I consider it

Titan x was overpriced because no double precision, this is also overpriced as its just a handicapped FX without the nice cooler

I also see cases that look too small for any card e.g. the xbox style,
versus mitx that could fit FX, and some bad design in between that are big but cant fit big cards.

Though some console style cases have PCI-E risers so you fit the card at an angle. Cases like the Silverstone Raven RVZ01, while not exactly tiny, will fit a full sized graphics card.

Everything past a 970/390 is overpriced but Nvidia's the guilty one, They started it. Proved it could be gotten away with and AMD followed suit,

But hey, At least Nvidia did something first :D
