R9 Nano Review thread

I'm struggling to see why you wouldnt just get a 390 of some description as they are so close in most of these benches, as they will both throttle in a small case anyway, its nearly double the price for single digit differences, and in the SFF case the reference 980ti is still loads faster so quite what is the advantage of getting the Nano?

This is for people making mini gaming rigs along this type of size and not for people looking at bigger rigs -

^ I must say that is pretty cool :D

But I would still prefer to have a case just a few inches longer and have a faster AND cheaper 980Ti in it.

Nano Case

Based on the KitGuru Thermal shots (showing heat build up at the end of the card where the power connectors are) I be interested to see how much it would throttle in that sort of case design.

Sad to see that very few (if any) of the reviews focused on the card in its (apparent) niche application. I would extent this to the 970mITX as well to ensure a consistent comparison.

For ffs andy your AMD negativity is unprecedented(excluding the odd couple), you should know what Nano is all about, youv'e had many a Halo product too.:D

Yes it's too expensive, yes there's faster, but nothing can touch it for what it is.

There was 5 in stock 2 hours ago and still showing 5 in stock. I think the market is dictating what they feel about these cards and like I said in the other thread, I can't see the point in these when already the micro GTX 970 has been out a long time and nobody even mentioned them.

I think AMD have made a serious miscalculation on pricing but if they have no stock, they can charge what they like and no doubt they will eventually sell.

The worst launch ever for this round of 28nm cards (all Fiji) or am I being too harsh?

Yeah but it definitely hurts their reputation for bang-per-buck gaming!!

For me these are very specialised cards for specialised mini-systems. Still damn cool though

High price but a niche market may take this up. It is around Fury Pro performance so could find buyers but it really should be around the £400 mark.
As I said in another thread I reckon AMD is not worried if these don't sell in large numbers since they have the market covered in the low to mid segments with the 370/380 and 390 cards.

Of course they have when you can buy the above for less than half price with a free game. It makes the Gigabyte Mini the bang for buck king if SFF machines are your thing.

Very expensive niche card. Not worth the money at all, terrible bang for buck, but it is a niche product for people with very specific requirements. Most people would get a 390 for half the price and run away laughing!

But even in that sector they must be loosing as Nvidia's market share keeps growing in a shrinking market.

In fact! The Gigabyte Mini looks that much of a bargain now in comparison, i'm tempted to build a SFF machine for a tinker :p

LMAO, genuinely I have been running through my head on a cheap Micro build and umming and arrrring. Not gonna happen but I could build a Micro build with a 970, CPU, Mobo and memory for less than the Nano :D

Come on man with what you have spent on Titans/Titan x I could kit out my whole house with pretty fast gaming machines. The Nano is arguably better value than Titans due to how small and fast it is.
