R9 Nano Review thread

I wouldn't want to spend upwards of £550 and have to put up with the inevitable power/thermal throttling, I'd much rather get a slightly bigger case and a 980Ti with blower (or FuryX if there's room for the radiator).

I just don't understand what AMD were thinking with this card, it's as if they were just totally hellbent on releasing a 15cm card regardless of if there was even a market for the spec they've thrown together.

+1

In Bang for Buck land the Fury X would have been £399, the Fury Pro and Fury Nano £349 and the 390X, 390 would have been £249/£199 respectively.

Can the real AMD please come out from behind the curtain now....come on you've had your fun...it's time to get realistic now.

I would much prefer the Bang 4 Buck AMD rather than the Niche Market AMD, for sure.

I get the strange feeling that the Fiji cards were all just a production experiment for HBM 1.

Actually the 390 is priced extremely well where it is at the moment at around £220-£240, it is the cards above it that's poorly priced :p

390x should be at £270-£280, Fury Pro should be at £320-£330, Nano should be at £370-£400, Fury X should be around at £430-£470.

The last line could well be a valid point, albeit I don't think AMD can really afford to experiment but I am a docker and know bugger all about business.

Yes maybe, but I am sure you would have handled the Fiji launch much better than AMD did.

I just dont understand the whole debarcle from AMDs side of the fence. Commercial Suicide perhaps.

Anyway I got a Fury Pro coming (If OCUKs warehouse gets their butts shifted :p ) and at least it looks like it was the best of the bunch as far as Fiji cards were concerned. I'm relatively happy with my purchase and cant wait to actually get some gaming done....at least it will give you lot a rest from my inane drivel. :D

It is :)

Nano is an absolute best graphics card on the market. Similar ish performance to the top cards and way better engineered than the competition. I will buy this card(not straight away) as it is the only one that is not looking retarded, not being a foot long and 2-3 inches thick with a wind farm on top.

Yup, these things will sell very very well man. Will blow the Ti out of the water quality and sales wise

It seems feasible since a lot of the AIB's didn't even bother releasing a Fury Pro version and just released the FuryX. All went for FuryX probably because it involved the least design and production effort since everything was reference designed anyway. Now the Nano is also reference and so we have all the AIB's releasing the card. I see a pattern.

Now i want one even more.. Not at the price, and coil wine looks like an issue. My not so small ITX rig is getting a 980Ti if i'm spending that much though. Sorry AMD :(

I'll get one when next year or something when they are all over the MM :D

I want one just cause they look cute :(

Stunning little GPU if it fits your needs. People shouldn't be jumping on the pricing.
Titan sells at a premium price tag, if it fits what you looking for then the Nano has no competition and reason it's priced highly.

Just like how the Titan was priced highly until nvidia killed it with there own doing.

I think these will do well people love there little home setups.

I said it earlier, the Fury seems to be AMD's best card this generation. It does not really matter if you prefer AMD or Nvidia or are in the middle, we need both companies even with the good and bad points of both in the market to keep each other on their toes. It would be a bad place if either had total market dominance. I think that is something everyone can agree on.

The problem is that it doesn't fill anyone's needs, an SFF with a big enough power supply will also be able to fit a 980ti which actually throttles less in the same small case

This would have been better if it had a blower, the length of the card might have reduced the effectiveness of it though, as it stands if you try and put it into the smallest case possible that maybe has 1x 120mm fan it will probably turn the case into an oven, I guess the 970 is no better in that respect though
