R9 Nano Review thread

To be honest, if AMD can sort supply out they should let AIB's do custom cooled Fury X's for £400-£450 to take the fight to the 980Ti.

Surefire way to make all us Fury owners thank the Lord for giving us the sense to support AMD when the chips were down. Right before they shaft us without the lube. Oof.

On an open bench?

EDIT:

Beaten again, Damn you I say DAMN YOU...

Since when was an open bench better than a decent case. My card runs much cooler in my case than it does in any reviews. We are talking air cooled Fury X in a decent case. I don't have all my fan slots filled either which would improve my temps even further. My 290 never exceeds 67 degrees at stock and it probably matches Fury X in power consumption.

LOL,you always go into threads moaning about AMD fans this and that. I am yet to see you go into a Nvidia thread and complain about Nvidia fans.

If I am wrong then link to the last time you complained about Nvidia fans.

Plus,I don't know want thread you are reading,I have said its expensive loads of times.

Let alone all the complaining I have made about the R9 285 and GTX960,and I even put my money where my mouth was and bought a GTX960.when it was cheap to test one out myself,to see if I was being unfair about it.

Last post I complained about fans here:

Maybe your sarcasm meter does not work in anyway...

So when is the last time you criticised Nvidia fans??

You know what, just forget it,otherwise I assume its all AMD fans or what not working doubting your greatness!!;) :D

When was the last time you complained about AMD fans?

Plus,I think no one has ever said this card is too expensive. I think that is the one thing everyone has agreed on LOL.
you said nobody (or "no one") has ever said this card is expensive, when they clearly have! Now you're saying that you did, which would mean at least one person has.

Simply because to keep things cool the cooler needs to be big as is the case with every card at this power and heat level.I don't see small coolers on a gtx980ti so why would you expect them on a Fury or Fury X that consume similar power levels.

We were talking about letting 3rd parties make coolers for the Nano so that it wouldn't throttle. I was asking if they can make coolers the size of the Nanos that will stop it throttling at 1000Mhz, why couldn't they make the Fury Pro ones smaller? The Fury Pro has less stream processors, etc. than the Nano and speeds are about the same. So why did Sapphire have to make a full length 2.5 slot cooler to cool that one if we're saying a 3rd party (such as Sapphire) could make a cooler to cool the Nano that would be the same size as the current Nano cooler.
What do the Fury Pro and Fury X bring to the table that warrants the more extreme coolers because they run so much hotter?

it's getting confusing because it's a Nano thread and the Nano is supposed to be an SFF card and SFF cases are usually rubbish for airflow, which is why blower cards tend to fare better for SFF

Yea i was replying to a post about Fury x in a nano thread which seems to be missed and for good reasons :D:D:D:D:D.

Yea what i meant was no one has denied the card costs to much. I typed that while drunk so excuse me for that :D:D:D:D. I can't even remember typing that if i am being honest. I do try to stay off the forums when drunk but now and then i fail.

No that was my fault, my quoting got all mixed up (and I'm sober!).
It wasn't you, it was CAT.

You mean like these cases:

or this:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=28522984&postcount=735

or this:

There were people going in that thread saying it was the end of Nvidia.

But I expect you will make sure you read it away that suits the way you want.

But still,I want to see when you have ever criticise Nvidia or Nvidia fans.

Remember, your the one who started with the fan thing, when nobody had stooped to that level,so hence wanted to see how you would feel when that terminalogy was flung back at you. You seem to use it all the time like another certain poster.

But I expect you to do just do what you do. So honestly don't waste your time!! :p

From having a look around the case has to be pretty tiny to actually require a Nano. Unless I am very much mistaken........always a possiblity. :p

What were those links about? They don't seem to criticise AMD or AMD fans in any way. One fleetingly mentions AMD has worse DX11 performance.

And there are lots of people on here that refer to the "Green Team" or the "Red Team" it's not just me. I'm not calling anyone fanboys, just describing that some people aren't unbiased. How would you like me to refer to the people that tend to stick up for AMD and berate Nvidia and vice-versa?
I've not mentioned names, I'm just generalising.

I don't know why there is all the argument in this thread as in a way everyone has agreed the Nano is a poor card for one simple reason -

No one in the thread is going to buy one for the current asking price !!!

If anyone disagrees then go ahead and buy one !!!!

:):):)

Why would they sell it cheaper when they hardly got any supply?, they will drop price if and when they get over stocked.

Everywhere that had stock on launch day still has stock, OCUK have had a total of 7 in stock and still have 3, the supply and demand argument for high pricing needs demand to make it work

You would have to be mental or seriously dislike your money to spend £599 on the ASUS.

Maybe this is a cunning plan by AMD to ensure they have got stock on the shelves.:D

I have a cunning plan !!!

I doubt there's much demand for a card that throttles heavily and has more than its fair share of coil whine. Maybe i'm just nuts but i would have thought for something that was allegedly targeted at sff and htpc that acoustics would be one of the forefront thoughts in the design. Apparently not =/
