RA2 Error

I just had a urge to reinstall RA2 and before setup starts it just crashes to desktop.

This is the error given

I used to have the same problem it would launch the installer but wouldn't being the installation and just crashed to desktop. I couldn't find a fix so i formatted to fix it. This was like 2 years ago mind you so someone may have found a fix or something.
 
I did because it was due a format :p all i had to do is load a disk image of the drive and it was done.

It doesn't look like a hardware problem so it looks to be software. Try updating all drivers couldn't really hurt.
 
Everyone I know gets this error with installing RA2 on win XP, even using compatibility modes on the setup file. Never found a fix.. :(

I've got RA2 and Yuris revenge installed on XP Pro SP2 with no probs :confused:

Same here, though I do have to run it in win98 compatability mode otherwise it just black-screens on startup.
 
Had this problem the other day getting it to work on my PC at a lan party (RA2 standard that is), while I was away for a while a friend said he'd found fixes on the EA support website (sounds miraculous I know) but of course I have no idea where this support page is...

RA2 does work on here now though, I have a vague memory of it being some sort of macromedia update, or possibly a safedisc patch.
 
Well I've updated my video drivers.

I did a 3DMark06 before and after,

Before I got 1576 from 681, 563, 683

After I got 1664 from 700, 584, 841.


Which is a bit of an improvement :), RA2 still doesn't work mind :(
 
It's strange, it doesn't work on either of my XP computers and I've got three friends who can't install it either. :confused: I wonder what we're all doing wrong! Double click on the setup file on the CD -> "the program has to shut down now, sorry for inconvenience, blah blah blah". can't install any patches or anything since the game won't install. :(

I wonder if there are different 'versions' of the red alert 2 discs. Meh, this thread has made me want to go and play it again now, I'll see if I can get the blasted thing to work. ;)
 
I wasn't too bothered about playing it to start with, but now im missing it :(

Meh. And ive just watched Of Mice and Men. What a sad ending :(
