Does anyone have insurance with the RAC? They've just undercut most 'specialist' places by ~£2k, but wondering what they're like for claims, modifications etc?

I think its AXA as the underwriter but not sure..

I've been insured with them for 4 days. lol. I got a quote online but i had to ring them to add my modification (just a CAI). This means you lose the 15% (or whatever it is) online discount. NUD are different in that respect as you can add mods on the phone and still keep the online discount.

They were still the cheapest BY FAR though. £880 Fully Comp @ 19 with 2 years NCB on the car in my sig. NUD wanted £680 for TPFT, well over a grand for FC.

Am planning to use them within the next fortnight, they're pretty darn cheap.

I don't know anyone who is paying as little insurance as i will be paying at 21. Under £300 for any car at 21 is cheap, let alone a 3.2 litre group 16 Jag and a fault claim 2 years ago.

To save cash, make sure you say your "car is serviced regularly" and that you drive "most days" rather than "every day".

Also remember to add a "spouse/partner" that "has access to another car", that should lop another 15-20% off and they would be also able to drive the car.

Serj is right though, with Norwich Union, all you have to do is get an initial quote online, and they'll still give you the discount over the telephone as you have "done the initial work online". The RAC won't do this however.

Yup, I am insured with the RAC, very good they are too. There have been no problems for me and they have been very helpful over the phone and were significantly cheaper than my othe quotes.

Its coming up to renewal time and I will not be changing.

As RAC is now owned by Norwich Union i'm guessing AXA isn't the underwriter ;)

Edit : For info, the RAC and NUD sites are the same quote engine, just different ratings dependant on what business each want. The same applies to Asda (also underwritten by NUD)

Hmm, they seem to want me to "ring them" thats never good for the price :(

I tried to get a quote and got the same answer.

I think they dont allow you to get a quote after a certain time because i know other insurers do this.

I'll have another try tomorrow during the day.

RAC's quote system quotes until 1am and starts again at 4am. APart from a few hours tonight were it had issues with reg number lookup's which may have meant people were asked to call

NU has been up and down like a yoyo today, just my look to be on the day I need some insurance

Seems RAC is giving the same errors too.

Don't suppose anyone knows anything about mods with them? IIRC, NU limit the number of mods, hope RAC don't do the same..

System problems with HPI checking. NUD has been up and down a lot recently as well.

They are esentially the same system just with different images. if ones down you can guess the other will be

Another question whilst I remember, if I buy online, is there any option to get the cover note sent to an alternative address?
