Hello all

Need some advice

My son has a Ford Focus ST -LINE X 2020 which he got in February 2023 direct from ford on pcp :rolleyes:. 2 weeks ago a " low pressure Oil pump" warning came on about 1 mile from home and went into limp mode, we got it on the drive and I check the oil and 1/2 between markers . We decide to call RAC out too have a look and he came checked oil and turned engine on and we heard a loud tapping he turned it off and said do not move get it to dealership.
Car was taken 10 days ago and got the report today that oil pump timing belt snapped and blocked the pump filter is fords thinking , this were is gets tricky the car has an extended warranty provided by the RAC they want ford to remove the sump and take pictures but want us to pay for that £375+vat . Earliest they can is 15/01/2023 that the ford garage can do it and service manager has said it needs a new engine basically and we are looking at end of February .

Only way to diagnose is taking the sump off so how are the RAC hoping to find this out is what is confuses me.

Thanks in advance

if asked, don't they give you an explanation though ? which will be refunded if X,Y,Z
ie. car maintained correctly and reasonable precautions to prevent any consequential damage;
what does warranty say about the belt as a potential wear&tear item

Rang warranty company ford quote is £3610.30 with 15.8 hrs labour :eek:
