Race Across The World

There's usually one couple we want to win from the start and one couple we hope fails miserably :cry:

Interesting start. I like the route and having done a good chuck of it before I'm interested to see how and where they go. Very much feels like a race now compared to earlier series. Not surprising as I'm sure everyone's seen at least one series by now. Having said that budget constraints might slow them down a little as the series goes on.
 
Pleased this is back. Would love to either go on this or do something similar in real life. Once in a lifetime experience and finding the balance between racing and seeing local landmarks that you may never get opportunity to see again.
 
Watched the first episode last night. Usually there's a pair who I'm less keen on but so far the people all seem decent. Although the two brothers are probably my least favourite they're still interesting enough and I'm glad they're seeing things along the way.

My wife and I have discussed it semi seriously a few times and usually settle on the same conclusion: while I'm sure it's a great experience the pressure to race does turn the reality into back to back buses. I think it was the second series (Mexico to Ushuaia) that was incredibly bus heavy. I said it previously in this thread but I think the race element has only gotten stronger since then.

Sure I could do 35 hours straight on a bus with only a slice of bread to eat, but I'd rather replicate the route without the time pressure. In our case that usually means multiple trips a country at a time.

We always think we’d like to do something like this but then we always come up with excuses :D
We do wonder how much involvement production have sometimes though.

Go on a holiday by Exodus or Explore, they often feel like this show
