Hi all :)
Just got GRID on steam, it installed fine NP there :) When setting up the screen resolution (27" DELL Monitor @2560x1440) all the game will show is Max 1280X1024, don't seem to matter if I set aspect 16:9 or 16:10...I only get to set res @ 1280x1024 :( On my monitor that res is horrorble :eek:
Please!! can someone tell me, there is a way to set up my resolution...Please say I can!! Looks a real awsome game, but at that res :eek: YUCK!!!

My specs are a monster, for this game but, I'll put em down anyway ;)

CPU: Overclocked Intel® Core™i7-2600k Quad Core
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME-Z: INTEL Z68
RAM: 16GB KINGSTON HYPER-X GENESIS DUAL-DDR3 1600MHz, X.M.P
Graphics Card: 3GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 580 X2 in SLI
HDD: 2TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD2002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE

Have tried disabling SLI, in the drivers, but that no work either :(.....Help me out someone ... Please!! ;)
Cheers...

Try changing it in the config file
C:\Users\(you)\Documents\My Games\Grid\hardwaresettings

The the hardware settings config file is where you should be able to edit and put in your resolution.

Yeh! tried that also but, when starting the game after making the changes, it makes me change them back to 1280x1024, with a screen that asks "Are you sure you what to set resolution to 1280x1024...YES/NO?...If I say NO!! it's like a loop and asks the same again...If YES...then it's set at, you guessed it!! 1280x BlaBla... :rolleyes:...Thanks for helping :)

Apparently the issue is with GRID not being able to read your VRAM properly. It thinks you have less then 512MB since it can't read the true value and thus locks you to lower resolutions. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix it though. :(

Try change it and then make the file read only.

I had the same problem, there's another config file, i think in the GRID folder which adjusts system settings to set default resolutions for vram or something iirc. Look in the folder itself, not in your documents and you may have more luck. I'll try to remember exactly what i did :)

Well that didnt take long, bit of quick googling :p

I believe it's possible to do so - I read this (http://community.codemasters.com/fo...279761-help-grid-resolution-hd3850-256mb.html), and it basically states you can run at high native resolutions with low VRAM video cards, as long as you turn down your settings if you want smooth gameplay.

1) Look for your hardware_settings_restrictions.xml file in your 'system' folder (default: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\grid\system\), and make a backup of it first.

2) Then go ahead and open the file with Notepad. Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see these lines:

<data>
<res mem="270" maxWidth="1280" />
</data>

I think Codemasters have limited the resolutions to anyone with less than 270Mb of VRam to 1280 pixels horizontally. All you have to do is change it to:

<data>
<res mem="270" maxWidth="1680" />
</data>

3) If that does not work, try deleting the whole 'res mem' line altogether.

4) If it's worked, but you find the fps too low, then either turn down your video settings or try a lower resolution of 1440x900 (16:10).

Replace resolution numbers as appropriate and you should be good to go :)

Just wanted to add my thanks.

Got this in steam sale, and the game misidnetified my 2GB VRAM, and limited me to the sub 270MB settings. This fixed it.

It's irritating the the devs put in hardcoded limits, to 'protect' users from running the game at higher settings than will provide good game play (especially when they sometimes misdetect cards). Surely this should be for the user to decide - they can quickly turn down settings if it's too demanding, after all.

I have just tried this with my setup but it just says loading, please wait. Updated to the latest patch, 1.3.

I just had this same issue since upgrading to a 780ti. A bit of googling brought me here and this worked, so thanks guys! I'm now playing at 5760x1200 with everything maxed out. :)
