As it seems to be the day for Cancer Research threads, I thought I'd join in. :D

I've recently signed up to do the 5k Race for Life for Cancer Research and I've seen that a few other girls have mentioned it in different parts of OCUK.

If anyone fancies running under the group heading of OCUK, then add to this thread and we could have a training update/sponsorship progress/photos of the events as they happen type thread.

As most of us are scattered around the country, we'd mostly be running different races, but we could do it as a collective on here and motivate each other and raise a fair amount of cash!

I've emailed one of the mods (D_P) about where this thread should go, sports or GD, but I think if any of you girls who are interested let me know here then we can see if it's worth setting up a OCUK Race for Life group. Would be great for all those in the Dieters' thread ;)

Thanks for reading, and if you want to sponsor me - I raised around £500 on my own last year, then feel free to email me and I'll send you the site address in return.

Cheers,
K_C

If you were to set up a group under the OcUK banner then it would be wise to run it past someone who can speak for the shop.

I have mentioned that in my email to Davey. I'm just wondering how much interest we'd have at the moment :) Obviously before we did anything we'd make sure it was all ok with the powers that be. Thanks.

found website n stuff, one right round corner, will give it a go if i can get enough sponsorship :D

Excellent :D Every little helps. It's a tenner to enter and some people don't get sponsored at all, they just do it to take part. It's a great event, real feeling of doing something special.

oh dear. I need to clear this up. I like footy, cars, rude jokes and worked in IT for a rather long time, but i'm NOT a geezerbird or anything like that. I also like pink (sorry Piggy :p) and am very definitely female ;)

Can't believe you thought I was a bloke. *much lollage*

and/ or knackered and sweaty

I'm willing to give to this cause but I'm going to have to toss a coin to decide which of you to sponsor unless someone can come up with another solution.

memememe :D It's my thread *pouts*

Seriously, if it comes back that OCUK are ok with it I think we can join together so we can collect money under the group banner as well individually. All sign up to be members of the same group. I think so anyway.

No, I think time trials would be better, I'll sponsor the fastest :)

Crap. That's me out :D I finished in 40 minutes last year  but it was my first time. I'm aiming for 30 max this time round. Not great but good for me, and my lazy ass.

Isn't there some walk where lots of women wonder around in London in bras for money, or was that a nice dream I had?

Yes, it's the playtex moonwalk. Victoria Wood was championing it last year. I'd quite like to do that too. Sounds like fun (not the walking bit :D) It's a half marathon. Linky here

And it's kinda like a lazy eye but far more debilitating. Can't even get off the sofa with it sometimes ;)

Did this last year with my mum and it was really good! The joint warm-up before the race was excellent!

You don't have to be fit to do it and it's really good fun!

I will probably be doing it again this year so i'm definately interested.

The joint warm up! LoL!

I got trapped in a horrid rank portaloo while that was going on and nearly missed the beginning of the race. I had to sprint half a mile (that's a crawl for nearly anyone else) and I was knackered when I started :D
