After visiting the museum at Le Mans, I've got the urge to try a racing game but I know absolutely nothing about them.

I'd like something that will run well on my system RTX 3080 (10Gb), 5800x3d, ideally on my 4K OLED TV, and is on the fun side of sim and I'd really like to be able to drive the Porsche 917.

I'll be playing with a game pad to start of but getting a wheel and pedals is an option down the road.

It would also be great if it wasn't full of microtransactions. I'm ok with DLC though.

Help me out.

Thanks

Dave

I've not heard great things tbh and isn't it riddled with microtransations? To be honest i'm more up for something that been out for a few years - tried and tested. Weren't the project cars games good? I know the name but not much about them...

So CD Keys have the deluxe edition for 36 quid - which I should be able to redeem on steam right? Can anyone confirm? (they don't sell it anymore due to licenses ending)

Will that get me all the cars/tracks etc?

No not the same. They come from the same developer however:

AC - Very much a platform for modders, comes with ok base level of content (feeling a bit dated now), however what makes AC shine is the vast amount of community produced mods/tracks/cars that effectively cover pretty much every facet of motorsport, and bring the game very much right up to date. Some mod quality can be very questionable and can range from janky AF to professional developer quality, you just have to go by community reviews. Online racing can be a bit of a minefield and its pretty much necessary to be part of a league/community to get "good" racing.

ACC - Solely focuses on GT racing, fully licensed from SRO motorsports. Very good selection of tracks with all DLC. Cars are primarily GT3 however they have subsequently added GT4 and there are some single make cup cars as well like Porsche and Lambo. ACC in my opinion is a step forward in immersion, the sound and feel of the game are such an amazing experience. Though going by what some real world drivers have commented I think to some extent real world driving physics has taken a slight hit to enable the overall atmosphere of the game. Online is hit and miss on this, but there are a couple of projects to help improve this like LFM and PitSkill.
Thanks for this. I might dip my toes in with AC as I'll be able to drive the car that started this whole thing for me and it's cheap as well, and if I get the bug (and tbh there's not much else that interests me right now) I can always go from there
