Hey lads

Never really been interested in racing games but recently I've started to really enjoy them. Can you recommend some classics for me to buy please? Arcadey and simulators will be cool. Thanks :)

Richard Burns Rally.
RFactor.
LiveforSpeed.

You don't need any others.

San Andreas :)

Racing Game  Its a 3rd person shooter that involves driving. Great game, wrong genre.

If you are after realism then look at GT Legends, GTR and GTR2. If you are looking arcadey, IMO you can't beat the trackmania series of games!

EDIT: Oh and Test Drive Unlimited is a laugh!

Grand prix 4
TOCA 1/2
Colin Mcrae Rally 05 is ok

DIRT - out soon , altho wait for full release as the demo is a wip

Install MTA and it's race only, also I've spent far more time driving around in SA than actually walking, imo a good driving game...

Sims:
LFS
GTR2

Arcade:
Trackmania series
Toca race driver 3
TDU
San andreas (+ MTA )
Need for speed series
Juiced
Flatout 2

FAT ones are personal recommends, others suggestions...

I thought TOCA 3 was pretty good :)

If you get GP4 it has quite a big modding community so you can play latest season cars and drivers etc or even some old classics.

slightly off topic

FrostedNipple, is that a tampon in your sig

I recommend flatout 2 great game.

just putting richard burns rally on now

Whap patches do i need for richard burns, its at 1.0 now and set to 1400x900 in the config file but its not at the right aspect ration so the speedo goes off the screen. sound is also a bit crappy, that might just be the game though

rFactor is the only one I really play these days, I like the great mods and configurability of it. Richard Burns Rally is another good one. Both are great sims. If you are into more arcadey racers then I dunno. Never been hooked on those tbh.

^^ I think it goes up to 1.4 but 1.3 works best for me but then on my previous system 1.2 ran best. I think it's a bit pick & mix mate.
Still without doubt the best ever rally game on the pc & on some days i think it's the best Driver on the pc, then on others it's RFactor but that really depends on what mod is currently hot & whether it suits your particular driving style. LFS is a Damn good driver though & only fails on the amount of tracks and mods available, i just get bored after a while, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the feel or drive of the cars.

Need for Speed: Porsche 2000

Classic?.......Check
Arcadey?.....Check
Simulation?...Kinda

Absolutely superb racer, great tracks, a wide range of handling on the different models, and a nice balance between arcade and realism (e.g. a persistent damage model between races). A fully upgraded 1978 3.6l 911 turbo is definitely the most fun to drive car I've found in any racer.

LiveForSpeed < Iv been using that one now for little over a year, and i have to say no other racing simulator comes close, the physics are top notch

Nascar Racing Season 2003 < Only if your into nascar racing, but the physics on that are the best iv ever played, but it takes AGES just to get used to it

Trackmania United is THE racing game if you're going for arcade.

TMU is probably the most overlooked of racing games, not many gamers have heard of it but those who have played it are all addicted.

There are 7 different environements in one game, including rally, island (which is super fast), snow, and Stadium (which is the most popular), all with their own unique styles and handlings.

But the best thing about TMU is the multiplayer, as community support is the best of any game to date.

The really cool and easy to use track designed means there areliterally of thousands of top tracks out there, and the in game menu is linked to the internet, allowing you to compete for world records while you're still in solo mode, and purchase new vehicle models and tracks etc with the in game currency.

I get pretty angry about how underrated this game is, as it is by far and away the best arcade racing game out there in terms of presentation, multiplayer support, and competitive racing.
