I'm starting to get into these games now but unsure what I should get. I currently have F1 2019 and do love it but also want something different. I have xbox PC game pass so got FH4 but I prefer track racing. Is Assetto Corsa the way to go for £15 (for a 5 year old game) or should I look at something different? I'm not looking to spend a fortune straight away.

If you have game pass look up dirt 2.0 it's really good. If you prefer track racing go for forza 7 you can get it on xbox anywhere so can be played on pc as well. Asseta corsa would best be played with a wheel

(I think sim racing games are impossible to handle with pads)

Even forza 6 could probably be found quite cheap I played that for years only just recently moved to 7 this year.

Assetto? With a wheel, yes. With a pad, nah. It might be 5 years old, but it's still great and you'll never want for content.
Maybe pcars2, as I think that works better with a pad, but you really want a wheel.

Thanks, I'll have a look at them. Forgot to mention, I have a G29 wheel and pedals already.

Are you sure Forza 7 can be played on PC? I can't see it in the game pass app anywhere.

And do you know if Dirt 2.0 can be played in VR through the game pass version?

Competizione is the db's of GT3 racing. Even on public servers now it's getting extremely competitive and standards are high, it's a pure joy to race online.

The 0.7 release nailed performance, 1.0 nailed the physics, the 2019 update was everything awesome. Roll on the Intercontinental GT Challenge DLC. Not raced Bathurst online with a full field before, looking forward to it immensely.

I'm still a bit sceptical of Assetto Corsa though it has a lot going for it - I found the understeer waaay exaggerated, even after I eliminated a bug in my config file that caused the road surface temperature to be extremely low which was causing some oddities with cornering - it also surprises most people who've played it on my setup - though I can't be entirely sure it isn't an issue specific to my setup.

original assetto corsa with tweaking probably has best tarmac physics in a car game . competionzione didnt really like utter understeer but i havent played that recently so maybe they tweaked that ass lokiss says. will have to give it a try again.
