About to place an order for one(brand not decided yet), but cannot decide which material to go for.

I'm leaning more towards fabric as I don;t want to be sweating a lot in the summer, but do the fabric ones have any major drawbacks i.e. lifespan compared to leather?

Could anyone with experience of both fabrics list the pro's and cons of either? I'd be most grateful.

thanks :)

Personally I just switched from fabric to pu leather. If you eat at your desk it can start to get annoying cleaning up the fabric compared to leather, which is the whole reason I switched in the first place.

What makes the fabric one more prone to gathering food?

How long did you have the fabric one for and was there any wear on it? Also, which material is more comfortable?

My main concern is the life of the chair, obviously if the leather version is going to last significantly longer than the fabric, then I'll go for leather.

I got one of the first fabric AK Racing ones as soon as they were available here (7 Aug 2014 according to my order history).

It lasted all the way up until end of last month and is still in perfect condition. Without any signs of wear and tear.

Fabric is a nightmare if you have animals, since it attracts their hairs a lot. Things just tend to stick to fabric and require a bit of elbow grease to clean it up. I would spend a good amount of time with a vacuum cleaner getting the hairs and crumbs out of the folds. Leather you still have to do that a bit, but most of it you can just get a damp cloth and clean it that way.

As for comfort, the padding is superb in both chairs I have used. I preferred the AK just because of the way I tend to sit at my desk (I sit on my left leg) but after removing the backrest from the SL4000 I can do that again without falling of the chair :D

Thanks for the good info man! I went for Fabric, I don't mind cleaning it regularly :)
