Racing Sim Cockpit - How?

Hey all,

Just looking at options for something to put in my man cave and quite fancy making myself a racing sim. Have seen a few youtube videos where people have made use of car dashboards, and we have a scrapped Bora in the Yard which was waiting for our summer smash up derby. Now I fancy using its interior or some of it to make something like this

Can anyone offer any insight into what they are using to interface with the dials?

if you want to do something like this

hardest bit probably is fabrication if you're making a cockpit inside a rig.

Always amazes me how these guys build these awesome sim rigs and then only play on 1 screen.

Dials would be very game dependant - a lot of games don't have an API for exporting that sort of information from them.

EDIT: Haven't read in depth on those but looks like most of them just jury rig it to the controller without it syncing with ingame very closely.

Pretty sure there's a guy who posts over in Consoles that built his own set-up. I can't remember who it was at the moment though.
