Im gradually coming to the end of creating my new wc system, im going to go for the Alpha Nexxxos XP Bold chip for my Winny 3200 and im stuck as to which radiator to go for.

Ive limited it down to the following two:

2 x 120mm Black Ice Extreme II

or

2 x 120mm NexXxos Xtreme II

Im going to be cutting a 2 x 120mm whole at the top of my v2000b for this to be mounted in, but is it a good idea to have this mounted at the top of the watercooling system? I heard that it might not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Cheaper and better to use a dual heatercore. If not, as you are considering modding, then why not the Thermochill PA160. For the BIE2, you need a really powerful pump and it isn't that great a rad. The thermochill PA series are much better, though personally I always go for heatercores as they are much more efficient.

As an example, I have 2 rads in my system, a dual heatercore and a 120.2 Rad. I can turn the 120.2 fans off completely and the heatercore will cope fin with my system. The fans on just reduce the load by about 1C.

If I turn my heatercore fans off and run the 120.2, things start cooking (well, the temps are usually about 4-5C higher on the components). True, placement of the rad etc make it slightly unfair but honestly, a dual heatercore costs what, £30 and performs better.

About location at the top, the only reason you might have problems is because of pump pressure (need a decent pump to pump all the way up and then to go through a very restrictive component) and bleeding of air from the system. These can easily be overcome by buying the right pump and bleeding before installing ;).

Might be more useful in the Overclocking and Cooling section thpugh :).

Ive got an Eheim 1250, so i was thinking that that would be ok?

What are the dimensions be for a dual heater core? And would it be ok at the top of my case?

I was thinking about this before but was unsure as how to mount it up there.

A dual heatercore (well the one I have) is the same size as my 120.2 rad. It is slightly deeper but pretty much the same size. 30cm long by 10cm wide roughly.

Reason I have 2 rads is long and complicated. I, through entirely my fault, managed to break the heatercore at first with the barbs (accidents happen) so ordered a rad and was prepared to take the loss on my chin. Then I bought some epoxy and fixed the core, so just added it to my loop. I have a coolermaster Stacker so I'm not short of room tbh. :p

Your pump should be ok.
