Rad rear fans question

Hi all

I’ve got a x72 kraken attached to a g12 nzxt bracket on a 2080ti with 3x 120 Thermaltake riing white LED fans on one side pushing air through the rad.

The rad is mounted vertically in an Lian Li o11 dynamic.

I’m thinking of adding 3x additional fans to the rear of the rad (mainly for completeness and because the case accommodates it so well) but was wondering what I should be looking for fan performance wise.

Would it matter if I use air flow or case fans to attach to the back of the rad or should I still be going for static pressure fans?

Not looking for rgb / led as I’d rather keep the back of the case unlit.

I was thinking some cheap nzxt 3 pin case fans in black might do the trick?

I’ll post some pictures of what I’m talking about shortly.

Edit: I have a phanteks fan controller so 3pin are no problem speed adjustment wise

when doing push pull, you tend to use the same fans - reason being is with push pull you can either lower the fan speed for quieter system yet have the same air flow performance or increase for more - though this only works for high FPI rads or 60mm thick rads - your rad has High Fins Per Inch by the looks of it.
also when a fan is in Pull, static pressure isn't the issue but airflow as your not pushing air through something but sucking. its when its in PUSH it needs High static pressure.
if you have two very different fans, might get some air turbulence (whistle sound)

would personally get the same fans ( without RGB) , also another thing, the back Panel filter will resrtict airflow leaving the case... a lot!

few of us have replaced them

your also running negative pressure so, the rear air gaps in the main chamber, will be drawing unfiltered air into the case

Didn’t even occur to me about mismatching fans and turbulence. Glad I asked now.

I’ll take a look at those filters. What are the advantages over the stock filter? Air flow? They certainly look to have a finer mesh.

Yea I was aware I was running negative but not entirely sure how to solve the problem without inverting one of my fans or losing one. I’ve been running the system for a while now and don’t appear to have a dust/cooling issue but maybe more time is required to see significant changes.
